ORPA'2005, the First Conference on OR Practice in Africa ( http://www.euro-online.org/africanOR/orpa2005En.htm) - this conference was held April 7 & 8, 2005, in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. Jon Caulkins (of Carnegie Mellon University's H. John Heinz III School of Public Policy & Management) represented INFORMS at this conference and documented his experiences in "O.R. Africa: Recent Programs, Future Potential" ( OR/MS Today , October 2005, http://www.lionhrtpub.com/orms/orms-10-05/frafrica.html ). Partial support for this conference was provided by INFORMS and EURO.
ORPA/CAPPS 2006, Improving Governance & Enhancing Policymaking in Africa (see attached announcement/call for participation) - this conference was held June 6 & 7, 2006 in London, UK. Partial support for this conference was provided by EURO.
ORPA'2007, the Second Conference on OR Practice in Africa ( http://www.orssaorpa2007.org.za ) - this conference was jointly organized with the Operations Research Society of South Africa (ORSSA) and held September 10 – 14, 2007 in Cape Town, RSA. Jeff Camm (of the University of Cincinnati College of Business Administration). James Cochran represents INFORMS at this conference and document this experience in a forthcoming ORMS Today article. This conference also featured the first ORPA/INFORMS/EURO/IFORS Teaching Effectiveness Colloquium that was cosponsored by INFORMS. The ORPA 2008 Edition was held jointly with the INFORMS 2008 annual meeting in Washington DC.
